Primary School Open Day
On the 23rd of September, 2010 St Columba's invited Primary School students from across Edinburgh and the Lothians to participate in the very first St Columba's Hospice Schools Open Day
The Day:
St Columba's schools volunteer and former teacher Iona Mckinlay welcomed the students with an interactive and informative presentation on the work of the Hospice. Keen and interested pupils then found out about the rebuild of St Columba's Hospice, the costs of the redevelopment and the running of the hospice in general.
The children got involved in a question and answer session, and enjoyed the excitement of planning their very own fundraising event with our very own (and highly sought after) "St Columba's Dollars".
The Result
The feedback from children and teachers exceeded all our expectations, with students learning about the Hospice, having fun and being motivated to support charitable activities. St Columba's hopes to make the Primary School Open Day an annual event and would love to hear from schools interested in an informative and enjoyable afternoon for some of their pupils.

"Great fun [and] really nice people"
"I think the best bit was the fundraising forum"
"It was a good cause. We mixed with other kids and it was fun."
