St Columba’s Hospice Light a Light ceremony cancelled tonight

Monday, 6 December 2010

St Columba's Hospice has this morning (6 December 2010) announced that the Light a Light tree lighting ceremony is cancelled due to severe weather conditions. The interfaith reception at St John's Church after the ceremony is also cancelled.

The lights on the tree will be switched on this evening at 6.30pm but there will not be any formal reception or ceremony and the gates of Charlotte Square Gardens will not be opened. The tree will stay lit until 6 January 2011.

Mairi Rosko, Senior Fundraising Manager at St Columba's Hospice said:

"This morning we have made the very difficult decision to cancel our Light a Light. We are still lighting the tree this evening anyway as we know how special and important it is to the people of Edinburgh, but there will not be any access to the gardens. We are all so disappointed to cancel."

Ends
