St Columba's chosen as Edinburgh Twestival charity
Tuesday, 2 February 2011
St Columba's Hospice is delighted to have been chosen as the official charity for this year's EdTwestival (Edinburgh Twestival), which is planned for 24 March 2011.
After a nomination process which invited the community to give feedback on a number of Edinburgh charities, St Columba's Hospice was selected as the local cause that the 2011 EdTwestival will support. The EdTwestival will help raise awareness and funds for the Hospice's project to rebuild its facilities.
Martin Lawlor, Campaign Fundraising Manager for St Columba's Hospice said:
"We're over the moon to have been chosen as the EdTwestival charity for 2011 and we'd like to thank everyone who supported St Columba's Hospice. We were up against a number of fantastic Edinburgh charities and causes, so it's a huge honour to be selected. St Columba's Hospice is still new to the world of social media so it's a great opportunity and privilege to be a part of this exciting event. We're really looking forward to working with the team at EdTwestival."
The EdTwestival is part of a global movement to use the power of social media like Twitter to organise offline events that mobilise communities in support of a local cause.
