Edinburgh’s ultimate battle of wits to celebrate 30th birthday

Wednesday, 24 March 2010

It's just under month to go until some of the wittiest Scots in town will be competing in a battle of wits, humour and hilarity at the 2010 Wits Dinner - an event held in aid of St Columba's Hospice. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the event, which will be held at Edinburgh's luxurious Prestonfield House on 22 April 2010, and organisers are planning something special to celebrate the birthday in style.

The MC of this year's Wits Dinner will be well known Scottish broadcaster Kaye Adams, best known for her role as the host of ITV's Loose Women, and for her roles as a regular presenter on Channel Five's The Wright Stuff, The One Show on BBC1 and Radio Five Live. This year's Wits - who will be battling it out for the coveted title of 'Wittiest Wit of the Wits 2010' - are well known public speakers Rod McCowan, Jim Robertson and Eric Davidson.

Guests will be treated to an evening of fine wine and good food, before the three Wits take to the stage to entertain the audience with their amusing anecdotes and stories.

Mairi Rosko, Senior Fundraising Manager at St Columba's Hospice said:

"We are delighted to welcome Kaye Adams and our three Wits to this year's Wits Dinner and are eagerly awaiting the evening they have in store for us. Join us as we celebrate the 30th birthday of this much loved event on Edinburgh's calendar and help us decide the crown for the 'Wittiest Wit of the Wits 2010'."

Tickets are £75.00 each and can be bought individually or as tables of 8, 10 or 12. The ticket price includes a drinks reception on arrival, delicious food and the ever important ingredient: lots of laughter. Contact the St Columba's Hospice Fundraising Team on fund@stcolumbashospice.org.uk or 0131 551 1381 to find out more or to purchase tickets.
