Art Friends of St Columba's Exhibition
Art lovers are invited to one of the most popular exhibitions of the Edinburgh art season - the Art Friends of St Columba's Hospice Exhibition.
This free exhibition which is open to everyone, offers the chance to buy original and affordable art from some of Scotland's most popular and well-known artists. A percentage of funds raised will go towards ensuring that St Columba's Hospice can continue to provide the very best of care to patients and their families. This year's exhibition will be held on 6 - 8 June 2014 at the Freemasons' Hall, 96 George Street, Edinburgh.
"Most of my ideas are inspired by the simple geometries found in nature, I love spending time outdoors watching the changes brought by the seasons to the landscape and the growth processes in plant life. I trained in Florence but returned to my hometown of Edinburgh in 1995 and am based at Coburg House in Leith. This is my first exhibition for St Columba's. There can't be many lives in Edinburgh which haven't been touched by the wonderful care offered by St Columba's Hospice, so it means a lot to be involved in this exhibition." Jacqueline Bell, Jeweller
James Fraser - Ma Cherry Amour
"I feel very privileged to do what I do, particularly when I can support an organisation like St Columba's Hospice which provides such valuable care for our community. I'm delighted to be one of the artists exhibiting at the years Art Friends of St Columba's Hospice Annual Exhibition and I urge anyone who is interested in art to come along and have a look. You won't be disappointed."
James Fraser, Artist
"This year the work is really vibrant and bright. We have 9 new exhibitors which is fantastic, and a few who are exhibiting with us again which is great to see.
Our committee have brought together the most wonderful collection of work and our fabulous team of volunteers have helped us hang it beautifully. The exhibition this year is an amazing array of highly desirable, beautiful and affordable art, sculpture and jewellery.
It's a great way for budding collectors to discover what they like and start a collection.
This year for the first time we have a print browser which was introduced following feedback from our visitors.
It's an ideal way to showcase prints and in Edinburgh we're truly blessed to have organisations such as the Edinburgh Printmakers.
The one thing which unites us all is that we're doing this to support St Columba's Hospice.
Do pop in over the next few days. Admission is free and it's a lovely collection of work. If you have any questions about the artists please just ask. We'd love to meet you.
Hal Osler, Chair, The Art Friends of St Columba's Hospice
